dacoso and ID Quantique cooperate for quantum secure data encryption solutions

dacoso, an IT service provider for data connections and data security, is cooperating with ID Quantique (IDQ), a leading global provider of quantum secure transmission solutions, to jointly offer forward-looking security solutions to companies.

The background is the current development of quantum computers. The new generation of computers makes most of today's encryption algorithms vulnerable: While attacks over a full key search with classical computers can take months, a quantum computer has the ability to break standard procedures in a much shorter time frame.

In this new threat landscape, it is critical for organizations to equip themselves with the right technologies to protect sensitive data. For this purpose, dacoso integrates the so-called Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) of ID Quantique into the optical data transmission technology of the dacoso partner ADVA. QKD uses a fundamental law of quantum physics: observation causes influence - and this is demonstrably recognized. In this case, the data transmission stops immediately and an alarm is triggered. This process ensures secure key exchange and data integrity against both classical and quantum attacks.

Although commercial quantum computers are not yet available on the market, there is already a need for action on the part of companies. Future new security risks are already affecting existing data. The saboteurs' attack strategy is "download now, decrypt later". This means that cybercriminals are already stealing and storing data today. Decryption will be implemented as soon as quantum technologies become more widespread.

"Quantum computing will have a profound impact on modern encryption methods and make most of them obsolete," explains Thomas Joswig, CEO of dacoso GmbH.  "Quantum Key Distribution is an indispensable technology for future data security. Our partnership with ID Quantique ensures that we can offer our customers a reliable solution against cybercrime".

"We are delighted to be working with dacoso at such a crucial moment in the cyber security market. QKD offers unprecedented security and ensures that companies can protect their most important data from damage now and in the future," said Grégoire Ribordy, CEO of ID Quantique, about the new cooperation.
