dacoso, IT service provider for network performance and data security with headquarters in Langen near Frankfurt, has acquired a majority stake in the newly founded we.Networks GmbH. The company offers a software solution that provides information about performance and quality in so-called software-defined networks (SD-WANs). The target group is carriers and companies that want to better control their dynamic networks. Co-founders of we.Networks are Michael Hartmann, former Senior Vice President DACH at gtt, and Christian Rößler, former CTO of weSystems AG.
SD-WANs combine different types of lines (e.g. MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, Internet) into a tightly meshed network. Software controls the routes, bandwidths and service classes of these underlays as needed. "SD-WANs make corporate networks much more efficient," explains Thomas Joswig, managing director and owner of dacoso GmbH. "But what was missing until now was a control instance. we.Networks closes this gap and will further improve SD-WAN usage. We see great potential in this solution and are pleased to have very experienced experts on board in Michael Hartmann and Christian Rößler."
The we.Networks solution is an overlay software that keeps track of all data traffic in the SD-WAN at all nodes. It works across countries and takes a look at the connections on all transmission layers - independent of the respective carrier or SD-WAN service provider. The information is bundled in a virtual Network Operations Centre (vNOC). "We make the 'black box SD-WAN' more transparent and enable companies to assess performance across all providers," explains we.Networks founder Michael Hartmann. Customers can see via app where potentials are lying fallow or future bottlenecks are looming. This saves them costs and improves the performance of their network connections.
