Dispersion Measurement
Dispersion limits the capacity in a WDM transmission system. Various types of dispersion cause different effects on the light pulses in an optical fibre. Chromatic Dispersion (CD) describes the dependency of propagation velocity on the wavelength. Polarisation Mode Dispersion (PMD) describes the dependency of propagation velocity on the polarisation of the electromagnetic light wave in the optical fibre.
Our Services
To ensure correct setup of a WDM system, both Chromatic Dispersion (CD) and Polarisation Mode Dispersion (PMD) have to be measured. dacoso offers measurements for CD and PMD, and on the basis of the measurement results suitable dispersion compensating fibres and the maximum data rate can be determined. This ensures that your WDM system can be put into operation on the respective optical fibre cable and will continue to operate trouble-free. The measurement includes an expert interpretation and written documentation of the measurement results.
