Attenuation Measurement
OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) attenuation measurements are used to characterize the fibre’s attenuation along its length. On the basis of this profile, fault locations and potential problems can be identified at an early stage. OTDR measurements are conducted with 1310nm, 1550nm and 1625nm wavelengths to cover a wide spectrum.
Our Services
The OTDR measurement process used by dacoso allows determination of the exact path attenuation. The total path attenuation as well as the splice loss and connector loss can be accurately measured and localized. As a result, faulty locations are simple to identify and corrected in a fast and targeted way. So-called “gainers” are also identified and localized by the dacoso OTDR measurement.
Furthermore, OTDR measurements at 1625nm permit identification of installation errors and pre-damage of the optical fibre. Reliable operation is therefore ensured before the installation of a DWDM system. The measurement includes an expert interpretation and written documentation of the measurement results.
