SDH Encryption
Modern high-speed networks in the WAN sector are mostly based on synchronous SDH/SONET transmission technology. SDH connections with data transfer rates between 155 MBit/s and 2.4 GBit/s have a wide sphere of applications, typically including interconnections between PBX devices, wire-, laser- or radio-based SDH links for customer access and router data exchange via packet-over-SONET (POS).
The ATMedia SDH Encryptor is a protocol-transparent encryption system for SDH/SONET links. The system encrypts STM-1/OC-3, STM-4/OC-12 and STM-16/OC-48 networks in real time and without any loss of quality. Deployment scenarios of the ATMedia SDH Encryptor are where standard SDH applications and networks are operated as VPN and hence should be protected against attempts at tapping and manipulation.
